Yannick Essono Ndong
Yannick Essono Ndong was born in Gabon and started to learn “sacred harp of Gabon” at the age of 4.
In 2012, after some english classes in Ghana, he came to France and went to Saint-Nazaire and Nantes to attend his studies.
Yannick is a multi-faceted artist : initiated to dance by his mother, he never stops sharing his passion and regurlarly gives afro, funk and hip-hop dance classes. Choregraph, he creates some shows in honor of Michael Jackson who is a source of inspiration for him.
Manager of “Jogango” from Saint-Nazaire, he regularly collaborates with the congolese band “MovaizHaleine” and some other artists (singers, storytellers, musicians…) in order to promote the “sacred harp of Gabon” and some other tradional african instruments he has played since his youth (musical bow, tam-tam, drums, harp…).
For a few years, Yannick takes part in some specific projects around the valorisation of the Gabonese harp and its culture through conferences and shows in France and aroung the world.
For the festival, Yannick Essono Ndong will participate at the world’s harp concert and will give two other performances, one dedicated to the hip-hop and the other to traditional Gabonese tales.
