Mamadou Sall, is a professional storyteller and the author of several children’s books.
Originally from Mauritania, he has been living in France for a while now.
Mamadou tells traditional stories from his homeland, and more broadly from West Africa. He regularly visits his country to collect new stories, and to tell them in schools and cultural centres. He is also invited to storytelling festivals and book fairs in French-speaking Africa and the Maghreb. Mamadou Sall travels throughout France and the world, making his culture known through his stories, songs and music. He promotes the French language, through his marvelous use of it.
In his adopted hometown of Saint-Nazaire, Mamadou has been working since last year with the Avalix neighbourhood house. They are helping immigrants to learn French, using storytelling and songs. This also gives them the opportunity to communicate about their own cultures. A collection of stories and songs will be published at the end of this project.
