Having completed a Master’s degree at Kyoto City University of Arts, Hideki Morimoto is now Principal Flutist at the Telemann Chamber Orchestra Japan. He also heads the Baroque Instruments Ensemble Kyoto and the “les Lunettes” ensemble as well as being a member of the “next mushroom promotion”.
Numerous honors include the 2010 Graduate School Mayor Award, a No. 1 placing in the Ensemble Division of the 2012 Japan Flute Convention Competition, the Kyoto Shimbun Award at the 2017 Kyoto Art Festival and the highest prize in the Ensemble Division of the 2018 Gifu International Music Competition with Chihiro Hayami among others.
Hideki boasts rare versatility, having mastered recorders, the historical flute, and even Japanese varieties such as shinobue bamboo flutes alongside the conventional flute. With a collection of more than 1000 recorders from all over the world, he gives lecture-concerts and workshops nationwide.
