Originally from South Africa, Shelley studied a music degree in Cape Town, before taking up the position of principal harpist with the Natal Philharmonic Orchestra in 1986. Subsequently, after two years post-graduate study in France with M. Germaine Lorenzini, she focused her attention on the electric harp. Her talent, style and performer’s instinct have not only taken her all over the Middle East, she’s also played exclusive venues in Europe and made an impact in America – twice finalist for the event industry’s Entertainer of the Year in recognition of her innovative approach to performance, and her original Harp in the Bubble concept.
Having spent 18 years based in Dubai, in 2007 Shelley Frost founded The Fridge. Apart from becoming widely known as the premiere artist booking agency in the region, The Fridge is also well loved for its committed programming and famous Concert Series. The philosophy of this grassroots company is firmly built on a passionate focus on locally based talent, promoting, managing, collaborating and constantly looking for platforms for the performing arts scene in the UAE.
From a festival standpoint, The Fridge founded the ChoirFest Middle East, an annual choral festival touching the lives of more than 2,000 people each year featuring international guest stars alongside Arabic choirs from Iran, Iraq, Lebanon and Afghanistan amongst others. In addition, Shelley has also turned her attention to directing an original aerial and dance-based dinner show exclusively for Pacha Ibiza Dubai, producing Viva, Deception and Ziya since September 2013.
